Used Car Development Manager

We are now recruiting for driven and motivated individual to join Hyundai who will manage the relationship between HMUK and suppliers to achieve maximum efficiencies and deliver great customer satisfaction to the dealer network. You will manage the development of Hyundai’s used car offering (Hyundai Promise) to ensure dealer network are fully engaged and support the programme. You will contribute towards future retail strategy by ensuring the network can optimise used car revenue streams as conventional revenue streams from aftersales are reduced through new technologies. You will manage the full used car P&L account ensuring business plan is achieved within agreed parameters including total sales, P&L, operational cost management (including effective stock & logistics management), consumer finance take-up and penetration of AUC sales. Effectively manage the daily weekly & monthly sales reports required by HMUK/HME/HMC. You will lead accurate reporting to CAP-ensuring Hyundai UK’s residual value maximum residual values are achieved at all life stages. Effectively manage HMUKs used car team, suppliers and used car refurbishment and vehicle logistics operations, reducing delivery times and refurbishments costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive initiatives and campaigns to support the sell-in & sell-out of Hyundai vehicles through the approved used Hyundai Network, maximising revenue for HMUK and reported residual values achieved
  • Improve the network capability by implementing KPI’s to manage dispersion; Used vehicle ROI, Used Vehicle Bay Turn, Used vehicle sourcing channels i.e. Motability GYOB, trade in and OEM channels
  • Manage Used Car flow to ensure HMUK stock is managed according to BP parameters, eradicating aged stock in line stocking policy & maximising profitable returns
  • Ensure all internal vehicles (including vehicles on by back arrangements or sitting on internal operational fleets) are in-fleeted in accordance with policy, ensuring effective disposal during de-fleet at optimal time/price.
  • Work in close liaison with finance to ensure used car valuations are carried out monthly against CAP Black book and the correct provisions are made to ensure disposal
  • Manage used car supplier base, ensuring continuous innovation in process/systems and appropriate ROI for HMUK
  • Work with Hyundai capital to ensure Hyundai’s used car consumer finance offers are updated on Hyundai.co.uk in line with updates/offers
  • Work with Sales operations and regional sales teams to ensure the Hyundai Network are maximising the used car opportunity
  • Work with the network development and dealer quality teams to ensure the network used car operations are supported adequately with training and development tools
  • Develop and maintain Hyundai’s certified approved used car programme ‘Hyundai Promise’ with the Hyundai Dealer Network, constantly reviewing competitor offerings to ensure ‘Hyundai Promise’ maintains its relevance and effectiveness in market
  • Day to day management and development of Hyundai Used Car Sales (Manheim/Dealer auction) to ensure annual sales plan is achieved

Person Specification

    • Experienced in the automotive sector working with whole life cost and residual values
    • Sound knowledge of the automotive supply chain
    • Commercially aware
    • Proficient in Excel/Word/PowerPoint
    • Excellent presentation skills
    • Articulate and confident
    • Ability to multi-task and be able to work in a fast paced environment
    • Previous experience as a Retail Sales Manager/Regional Sales Development Manager OEM/Product Specialist OEM would be an advantage
    • Retail/Wholesale Sales Automotive background would be desirable
